Chattr Chakkr Vartee is the mantra for the heart center, it gives direct energy to it. When you are sinking, if you know this mantra and can sing it, you can totally recuperate yourself. — Yogi Bhajan
I know many of us are going through some seriously messy life stuff.
Big changes, transitions, growth, and lots of letting go.
As one friend say, "It's time let go of all the things that are hurting his heart." Whether it's an intimate relationship, a dead-end career, a harmful friendship, a lost dream, an identity that needs to die, or a nagging health issue, we can't heal it until we feel it. It could be some old, heavy toxic emotions, drama, and familiar patterns that we holding on to. Grief, anger, reacting instead of responding, worry, sadness are all part a intense life.
Especially as we're growing to a new way of being and seeing.
Life is always moving us forward, but it's hard to feel that way when we're resisting the change. Oftentimes, we're stunting our own growth.
In the past, I would run away from the yucky stuff just as much as anyone. This didn't serve me or anyone around me. While I still fall back on old patterns, one of the most powerful ways I've found release painful stuff, shift my energy, and elevate my mood is through chanting mantra.
Consciously chanting mantra is a way that we control and direct our minds. It's a comprehensive technology all on its own. We study it for 20-30 hours in teacher training, but it's something that will be a lifetime of new discoveries . But you don't have to know how it works for it to work, it just does…even after listening or chanting one mantra. It recalibrates us on all levels.
As we know, everything in the universe is vibration. It's all energy. When we chant, we stimulate the 84 meridians points at the roof of our mouth. This, in turn, activates our higher consciousness centers in our brains. As we vibrate with the sound current, we're either in alignment with the universe or not. A state of flow, ease, and acceptance no matter what life throws at us. Yogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini Yoga, said in number 5 of the Sutras for the Aquarian Age, align with the universe, and we'll be shown the way.
This begins in our mind.
1. Recognize that the other person is you.
2. There is a way through every block.
3. When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.
4. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.
5. Vibrate the cosmos, and the cosmos shall clear the path.
Our beliefs and thoughts project our reality. We plant seeds in our consciousness in every thought. We can't escape the darkness, but we can transcend it.
It's self-healing at its very core.
In a few short months, I'll be a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher (as taught by Yogi Bhajan). Kundalini yoga is a complete yoga that includes breathing (pranayam), movement (kriyas), mudras (sacred hand positions), mantra, and community. I found it when I was deeply wounded by many, many losses. And it's saved me during that difficult time, as I wrote here. It's also a lifestyle yoga that been passed down through a Golden Chain of teachers. Though are no gurus and the guru is within, even Yogi Bhajan, as a Master only wanted the sacred teachings to continue by educating teachers, not followers.
If you're new to mantra (sacred sounds), let them penetrate every cell in your being.
1. lying on your back, one hand on your heart/one on your belly, let the sound vibration work through you. Do this for a minimum of 3 minutes, but 11 minutes is what I like.
2. cooking, cruising, or dancing to the sounds, and attempting to chant along with the words.
3. if you're feeling called to, try a class.
If you are familiar with mantra,
…chant your heart out.
And NOTICE, NOTICE, NOTICE.
One mantra that I'm loving right now is Chattr Chakkr Vartee, it's a mantra of courage and fearlessness. As it states in our teaching manual this mantra "removes fear, anxiety, depression, phobias, and brings victory." When you feel weak in heart and spirit and need to rejuvenate, it will benefit you in countless ways. If you let it.
I invite you to listen to Nirinjan Kaur youTube video below. I'm planning on chanting this for 40 days. If you want to mix it up, Snatam Kaur also has a beautiful version.
Chattr chakkr vartee, chattr chakkr bhugatay
Suyumbhav subhang sarab daa sarab jugtay
Dukaalang pranaasee dayaalang saroopay
Sadaa ung sungay abhangang bibhootay

Or connect with me. I've helped hundreds of people make positive changes in their lives through awareness, nourishment, and simple, practical lifestyle changes. Sometimes, we just need a gentle nudge (or a full fledged push) in an alternative direction.
My goal is to bring to you these beautiful teachings this fall. In the meantime, Snatam Kaur recently released a gem of a book called Original Light that I'm reading and loving. I can't recommend it enough, even if you know nothing about this ancient and sacred practice, you will enjoy her story, humor, and light.
Sending you many blessings.
And just enough struggles to make you grow to your highest self.
May you walk in grace and glory, even when it's damn hard.
