A few months back, I quit coffee for the tenth time. My adrenals stabilized, and I felt great. No more 3:00 pm sluggishness. But then I started to crave the creaminess of my beloved coffee, so I switched to making chai daily in the morning. It's winter afterall. But like coffee, chai started becoming a 2-3 times a day habit. Raw chai spices by themselves are amazingly healthy, and even though I added homemade almond milk and organic maple syrup, I was addicted. Not to mention, it's a lot of sugar in one day.
It's time to switch things up.
I'm back to an oldie, but goodie with a fresh spin. I've been making lemon -ginger honey tea off and on, since I got my first taste of it several years ago. This past weekend, while I was at another swim meet with my girls, I headed over to a favorite place of mine Organic Garden in Beverly MA and ordered the lemon, ginger, honey tea. We all know when someone else makes it that it tastes even better. And a new or rediscovered habit was born.
It's often the simple things that makes us happy.
fresh ginger, about a 1-2 inch piece, peeled (depending on your love of ginger)
2 cups of boiled tea water
raw honey, to taste
blend on high in vitamix for about 2 minutes.
optional: handful of goji berries, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne, oranges (slices)
PS. I just loved the picture above, and it's my goal to drink that much but I hardly do.
